Much of the unhappiness, frustration and sadness we feel is the result of choices we’ve made based on our illusions of what happiness is, what it should look like and how it should feel. So much so that we end up moving in ways that actually lead us away from our bliss. We often can’t see this because we are incarcerated by the interior logic of our preferences—our preferences dictate our movements rather than our purpose dictating our movements. You may desire good health but if you have hypertension and you’re consuming lots of processed foods because you prefer foods that are high in sodium, then it’s your preferences that is leading you not your purpose.
However, if we free our minds, interrogate our preferences and accept that positive change often requires sacrifices that are painful at the moment, and then actively choose the roads that lead to the best in us. We can discover our destiny and be reborn with renewed purpose, finding joy in places we previously hadn’t thought to look, discovering a quality of peace not just in our new found destination, but in the bliss we find along the journey— Àdísà

So many people say “positive vibes only!” Here’s the problem. 1- Negative vibes teach us what we like and what we don’t like. 2- We need negativity to recognize positivity just like we need darkness to see light. 3- Often, I the “positive only” people are very angry because they deny themselves a natural outlet of normal human range of emotions. 4- Rumi: “If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?” 5- Negativity is part of life. Randy Pausch: “The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.” 6- Sometimes what appears to be negativity is there to teach us something or show us a new path. Ask yourself why you are bothered by the situation. Have patience to hear the answer. 7- Often the negativity is not about you but the pain the other person is suffering from. It gives you a clue into other people’s psyche and a chance to understand, help. 8- Your being positive may be viewed as negative by another person. 9- There are many negative people out there, so it’s really easy for you to shine! 10- Stay away from people are always negative and whose negativity constantly brings you down. I have learned not to curse negativity but to use it in a positive way to guide me. I hope this helps you too.
