I inspired a fellow Jewess to start lighting Shabbat candles

Did you hear about the young father of four that was stabbed while waiting for a bus? The video below gives details about a very sad reality where there is baseless hate and innocent lives are discarded.

  • EDUCATE  YOURSELVES AND EVERYONE AROUND YOU ABOUT YOUR OWN HISTORY AND ROOTS.
  • TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR ANCESTORS, UPBRINGING, AND BACKGROUND
  • SHOW INTEREST AND TAKE TIME TO LISTEN AND GET TO KNOW THE DIVERSITY AROUND YOU

I had the pleasure of getting to know a Yoga student that regularly comes to my classes. When I found out she was also Jewish, as we were talking she remembered her mother always lighting Shabbat candles. She will start again tonight in my home along with Shabbat dinner, and then continue in her own home.

I was telling her that it is in honor of my grandmother, Babushka Anya, who passed away almost a year ago at 101 years old. She also remembered her mother lighting Shabbat candles as a little girl in the Soviet Union. I am the only one from the whole extended family that continues her light, tradition, and faith.

Blessed.

Shabbat Shalom,

Coach Yulia
