What a week, what a Shabbat, and tomorrow is a maybe baby and an event with 70 women! The week was full of good, non stop busy. Yesterday I was literally exhausted and on call. Today I went to meet some new friends at services I have never been to, there are many places to pray for Shabbat. It was so nice to families walking to and from their synagogues. It was a gorgeous cool day, with warm sun, and before I heard the beautiful lesson of the day, we got some sad news that a young man in our community was hit by a car and had brain surgery! Please put him in your prayers, he is recovering,  Harav Matisyahu Joel Baruch Ben Gitel.
The lesson of the week was dedicated in his honor, and the final words were about being a vessel. There was a story of a woman who needed a miracle, her husband passed away, and her children would be taken away with no income coming in.  This is an ancient story, but so relate-able to life changing in an instant. So the prophet Elisha asked her if she had anything valuable, and she had only one can of oil, which was very valuable at that time. He told her to ask everyone she new for containers, cups, and vessels, and fill them all with oil. Every time she would put a vessel, the oil would keep pouring, once she ran out of vessels, the miracle stopped. She made enough money to support her family.
Be a vessel,
Shine your light,
Be of service,
Find your passion,
What is your gift?
