Coming to America from another country, the holidays were never quite authentic. Especially as a kid, we never trick or treated, and for all the other ones we got invited out to eat because everybody loved my mom. Now as a parent, especially with safety, I am not interested in starting a trick or treating tradition. It was never my tradition, and it is now not a part of my Jewish tradition. What I do love is dressing up and having fun, and I am fine with my kids dressing up and having fun too.
In their school they have a parade and a party, and it’s all good. They will be asleep tonight by 7pm as usual, and I will be teaching Yoga. The cartoon above cracks me up because the world has changed, and besides safety, everyone is aware of their health and allergies, it is just not the same.
Have fun tonight if you are celebrating, and be safe!
