Most of us, including myself needs to get better at listening. I took a Yoga class with my 83 year old teacher the other day, and one of the soundtracks he was playing had nothing but cricket noises. As he was instructing the class he casually said that if people were really listening, they would be hearing the crickets. The class laughed, but the point is that most of us are so inside of our own heads, schedule, planning, analyzing, along with anxiety, and are rarely fully present.
I always tell my kids that if you do not like how someone is talking to you, just walk away, separate yourself from the situation. We should do the exact opposite when someone is genuinely thanking us for our contribution, talent, gift, and how we made them feel. Yes it is good to be humble and know these are all gifts from above, but it is also important to realize that these are communications from above, it is a message saying, you are doing what you are meant to be doing.
Trust the Feeling,
Let people love you and make them feel comfortable to express their gratitude,
