I just taught two Yoga classes today, and I love that it is every type of person you can imagine. Age, gender, flexibility, strength, height, weight, and level are different, and that is the beautiful reality of life. We are all different, there is no perfect way, there is not one way, there is just your way, and that is what Yoga is, figuring out your way. Actually Yoga is has three parts:
- FORM/ALIGNMENT/CORE
- YOUR BODY AND YOUR OWN BODY’S WAY OF DOING IT, EXPRESSING IT, FEELING IT
- EACH POSE HAS A DIFFERENT APPROACH ( SOME ARE A WORKOUT, SOME ARE A MASSAGE)
If somebody tells you look at me I am doing it right, it is the only way, they are only talking about themselves. Everybody is different, there is nobody like your body, when it feels good you are doing it right, trust your mind/body connection, and stay present. We are different everyday, sometimes we feel full of energy, and sometimes we are in slow motion, tune into what your body needs in the moment. With regular practice, you will see amazing benefits and results, but in each class just focus on now. It is great to be in a group so you can see a variety of ways of doing a pose, especially by someone who dances for Cirque du Soleil! There is no comparison or competition, it is very personal and individual, ask yourself, what do I need today, what feels good today?
